Mr. Larry Christiansen ("Mr. C") has been Director of Bands and Chairman of the Music Department at Monsignor Farrell High School since 1981.

 

In addition to Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble, Mr.C  teaches Music History classes to all Spohomores and Juniors at Monsignor Farrell High School.

 

 He possesses a BPS in Music and Biblical Studies from SUNY, Empire State College and has also studied at Wagner College, Staten Island, NY and Oral Roberts University, Tulsa Ok.

 

Mr. C toured and played drums with numerous artists including Jazz pianist/organist Billy Dee, the well known R&B group 'The Soul Rockers' and was both Drummer and Assistant Music Director for the off Broadway musical production of 'HAIR' with Heather McCray and Otis Stevens.

 

He has served as Director of Music at St. Bernard's Church in Riverdale, MD; St. Mary's R.C. Church, Staten Island, NY; Church of the Holy Child, Staten Island, NY;  and Director of Upper School Music at Staten Island Academy. 

 

Mr. Christiansen also teaches weekly, adult Christian Apologetics and Education classes at The Fountain of Life Center in Florence, NJ, and serves as a drummer, conga player and percussionist with the church's Worship Team.

 

Mr. C's radio program 'The Anchor of Truth with Brother Larry C' was broadcasted bi-weekly from 2001 until 2009. This popular Christian teaching and biblical apologetics program was heard in the Philadelphia, Southern NJ and Delaware Valley markets on WIFI 1460 AM and also streamed throughout the world via of the internet.

 

'Mr.C' recently completed his 13th season in the role of 'Pontius Pilate' in the Fountain of Life Center production, 'He Is Alive' which plays and ministers to audiences of over 27,000 every Easter season.

 

  

Under Mr. Christiansen's direction, the Farrell Marching Band was awarded the 2011 USSBA National Championship at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, also capturing awards for Best Music, Best Percussion, and Best Overall Effect. During Mr. C's tenure, the Farrell Band has won a combination of 4 EMBA and USSBA Open Class Championships; 13 NY State Championships;  the USSBA Northern States Championship; the USSBA All States Championship; 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medal at the USSBA National Championship and over 250 first place and special caption awards in both field and parade competitions. The Farrell Band holds the title "Best Band" for the 2011 and 2010, New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade, having won this prestigious award 10 times in the past 12 years.

 

Mr.C, is an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. He is a charter member of The National Single Wing Coaches Association and is widely known for his expertise and passionate devotion to football's, Single Wing Offense.

 

Mr. Christiansen lives with his wife Lynn and his daughter Sara, in southwest New Jersey.
